our cultural advisor, dr. karin amimoto ingersoll, is a beloved scholar whose work is deeply rooted in the pacific. with a ph.d. in political science from the university of hawai‘i at mānoa and undergraduate degree in international relations and history from brown university, she explores how the ocean shapes not just geography but perception, understanding, and belief. her book waves of knowing: a seascape epistemology (duke university press, 2016) proposes a powerful vision of indigenous and embodied knowledge rooted in kanaka maoli experience.
a longtime volunteer with the polynesian voyaging society and active in local environmental groups, she brings the same sense of movement, ethics, and care to her community work. whether in print, on a panel, or walking beside students, karin invites others to become grounded, relational, and attuned to the deeper currents that carry us all.

ryan is a seasoned creative director, art director, and designer whose passion lies at the intersection of influence and purpose. with over 15 years working with high‑impact clients, he approaches projects with collaboration, curiosity, and precision.
